Yorkshire Motorsport
A community-driven event calendar for Yorkshire's motorsport circuits, with spectator access confirmed by people who are actually there.
LocationLeeds, UK
Project Summary
Track days, test days and race meetings at circuits in and near Yorkshire were spread across separate calendars in different formats, and none of them said whether spectators could actually get in.
Yorkshire Motorsport is Mark's own product, built and run to the same standard as every client site, that fixes both: one calendar pulled automatically from every source each morning, and a crowd-sourced answer to the access question from people who were actually there.
Since launching in August 2026 it has shipped new features almost every week: richer event and circuit pages, interactive track maps, a weekly email with weekend forecasts, automated social posts, an embeddable widget, and permanent pages for every regular fixture so next year's searches land somewhere that already ranks.
Key Features
- Events pulled automatically each morning from multiple independent sources, each isolated so one broken site never takes down the rest
- Visitors confirm whether spectators got in, building a crowd-sourced answer
- Weather forecast, track hours, layout, noise limit and ticket price on every event
- Finished events link to official results and show photos from the day
- Permanent pages for every circuit's track days and named fixtures like BSB and the BTCC, with sourced introductions
- Interactive track maps with named corners and numbered viewing spots
- Circuit pages with history, quick facts, visitor FAQs and distances from your location
- Optimised for AI search (GEO), with FAQs on every fixture page and last-updated dates
- Search and filters by circuit, event type, car or bike, and month
- Star events into a saved list and add them to your calendar in one tap, no account needed
- Weekly Thursday email with the weekend's racing and forecasts, plus double opt-in event alerts
- Community photo gallery, every shot credited to its photographer
- Track day and marshalling guides for newcomers
- Branded social posts and stories auto-generated, approved, then published to Facebook and Instagram
- Free embeddable events widget for clubs and circuits
- Installs on a phone like an app
- Health report emailed after every scrape, with problems flagged first
- Signed, throttled admin sessions, rate-limited forms and 570+ automated tests on every change
