FAQ

Common Questions

Is the website checker really free?

Yes. There's no sign-up and no email needed, and you see the full report straight away. If you'd like me to go through it with you, the personal review is free too.

How is this different from Google PageSpeed Insights?

The speed scores come from Google's own PageSpeed test, run as a phone. Alongside that it checks the things PageSpeed doesn't explain in plain English: whether your site is secure, what shows in Google's search results, tap-to-call, and whether Google can read your business details.

Why are the scores different each time I run it?

Google's speed test varies a little from run to run, depending on the network and server at that moment. A few points either way is normal. The same site checked again within a day shows the same report.

What should I fix first?

Anything marked "Needs fixing", starting with a missing secure connection and pages that don't fit a phone, as those put visitors off straight away. The report puts the most important ones first.
