Why it works

Show the Finish

Trades work is won on the quality of the finish. Your website should show it off.

I'm Mark, a web designer and senior software engineer based in Leeds. I built Queensgate Glass's first website in 2019, before Austin Tech Solutions existed, and seven years on I still look after it. That's the kind of relationship I want with every trades business I work with.

I've picked up the tools myself, too. My wife and I converted an ex-AA service van into a campervan, and I do my own servicing and modifications on my cars, so I know how much skill and graft goes into a finish that looks effortless.

Trades work is won on the finish, so a trades site has to show it: the jobs you've completed, everything you offer, and a quick way to ask for a quote. I design each one from the trade itself rather than a template. Industrial Doors SW's site is styled like a door spec sheet, with stencil headings and a roller shutter that rolls up to reveal their installs. Queensgate's puts their glass and mirrors in a full-screen gallery.

I design, write, build and host the whole site, and I'm the one who picks up when you need a change. No agency, no account manager, and no template with your logo swapped in.

The work

Built for the Trade

A glass specialist in Stockport and an industrial door firm in Devon, both designed, built and run by me.

Queensgate Glass

Queensgate Glass in Stockport make and fit bespoke splashbacks, mirrors and glass. I built their original website in 2019, and as the business grew, the WordPress site became a chore.

So I replaced it with a fully custom site, moved the domain, hosting and email over at the same time, and kept every bit of search visibility the old one had earned. Here's how it's doing.

Industrial Doors SW

Will and Si founded Industrial Doors SW with over 30 years' combined experience but no online presence, and needed a credible website quickly and on a tight budget.

I built their first site, then redesigned it as the business grew: a look taken from the trade rather than a template, with stencil-style headings and ruled lines like a door spec sheet, and a hero where a roller shutter rolls up to reveal one of their installs. Every page is built to turn a search into a quote request.

  • Regular enquiries

A steady stream of calls and quote requests from the website, with the right contact details on every page.

What a Trades Site Needs

All of it already running on Queensgate Glass and Industrial Doors SW.

  1. A gallery of your finished jobs

With a full-screen viewer so customers can see the quality up close.

  2. Everything you offer in one place

Each service easy to find. For Queensgate, that's everything from splashbacks and mirrors to balustrades; for Industrial Doors SW, a numbered catalogue of seven door types.

  3. Reviews customers can leave on the site

Queensgate approve each one from a single email link, and it's live within minutes, no login needed.

  4. A page for every area you cover

Industrial Doors SW have a page for Devon and one for Cornwall, so the site ranks for the counties they cover, not just their home town.

  5. A quote form and a phone number that work

Forms that reach you as a clear email, with spam protection, and direct numbers on every page, one tap to call on mobile.

FAQ

Common Questions

How much does a website for a trades business cost?

With Austin Tech Solutions, every build is quoted for your business and agreed as a single fixed price before any work starts. You can pay for the build upfront or spread it monthly. Hosting, updates, off-site backups and support then run on a simple monthly fee. Across the UK, most small businesses pay between £500 and £6,000 depending on how much is custom built.

We already have a website. Will we lose our Google rankings?

No. When Queensgate Glass moved from WordPress, every old address was redirected to its new page, and the new site kept every bit of search visibility the old one had earned.

Can you move our domain and email too?

Yes. For Queensgate Glass, I moved the domain, hosting and three mailboxes over with their full email history, at the same time as the new site went live.

Who looks after the site once it's live?

I do. Hosting, email, security updates and off-site backups run on a fixed monthly fee, which includes up to 2 hours a month of changes and SEO work, so new jobs and services go up without you touching a thing.

Do you work with other trades?

Yes. As well as Queensgate Glass and Industrial Doors SW, I designed the brand and built the website for Harrison Landscape & Garden Services, a family-run landscaping business in Northumberland, and there's a dedicated page on web design for landscapers.

Do you only work with businesses near Leeds?

No. I'm based in Leeds, Queensgate Glass are in Stockport and Industrial Doors SW are in Devon. Everything can be handled by phone, email and video call, and I meet clients in person where it makes sense.
